closegood, is a trans hip-hop duo based out of Los Angeles, bringing the most cutting-edge, sonically exquisite, fast-paced hard-hitting queer rhymes in the industry. Comprised of one of the best producers I know, Amada, and one of the best rappers I know, Nyfe, the two take the music scene by storm, dropping one of the best albums of the year in 2021. Their latest album thotform explodes into the realm of hyper-pop and truly puts to shame the plethora of yt, cis men who are unfortunately in the same genre. It truly saddens me that these two have not reached the same level of notoriety as other hyperpop-esque artists like glaive, ericdoa, etc., because their sound is definitely on the same level, if not exceeding.

weepingwillowtree (she/they) is a noise artist, dj and visual communicator here to remind us (all) that we have the right to own and take up space. being a sagittarius and dealing with racism and transphobia throughout her entire life she has been made to feel like she did not have this right. her work represents her fight against this mentality. embracing her blackness, queerness and all the insecurities about herself. recognizing that these things give her individuality and her sense of self. she invites u along to take up space and embrace the most genuine parts of u.

M is one of the most talented visual artists I know. They have one of the most brilliant, creative minds I know. Their secret hidden talent is that they are also an incredibly musician, they write such sweet songs and have a beautiful voice. If you have the chance I really recommend you get to know them because they are on of the kindest, most considerate persons I know. Recently they have started sharing some of their animations (as pictured below) and they really blow me away.

In past years of Do Over Fest, I have focused on quantity over quality, trying to spread the grant I was given by the City of West Hollywood (which you should totally apply to) to the most amount of people possible. My first year I had somewhere around 50 artists featured and was able to give each around $100. My second year, in 2021, I tried to select a smaller amount of artists, approximately one a month, and gave each around $200. This year I received the largest grant I ever have, $6,500, and I wanted to really give each artist a life-changing amount of money to create a project or just help sustain their life so they can continue to create art. As a result, I gave each artist $1,000. At times I felt guilty not giving more money to more artists, but I also realized the toll it had taken on me to single-handedly feature 50 artists. This year I feel I have a much more sustainable relationship with the project, and a much more meaningful gift to offer other trans artists who I believe need this kind of monetary support.
